What is a Brag Document?

Are you looking to stand out in the job market, attract new clients, or simply showcase your skills and experiences in a professional and compelling manner?
A brag document is a list of all your accomplishments you do on a daily basis. Start tracking your success to impress others or yourself!
.

Take time to track your accomplishments

Representation that we forget the good things and only remember the bad things

Celebrate Your Accomplishments

Writing a brag document every day allows you to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements. This can boost your self-confidence and provide motivation to keep striving for success.

Boost your confidence

Writing a brag document can help boost your confidence and self-esteem. When you see all of your accomplishments in one place, it can give you a sense of pride and confidence in your abilities. This can be particularly helpful if you're going through a rough patch or feeling down about your achievements.

Prepare for Future Opportunities

Your brag document can serve as a helpful resource when it comes to applying for jobs or promotions. By keeping a record of your accomplishments and skills, you can easily reference them when updating your resume or preparing for an interview. It can also be helpful in identifying areas where you may need to improve or gain more experience, allowing you to set goals and work towards them.

Build your own luck! ๐Ÿ€

You are responsible for your own work
Don't depend on others for your own success
As an employee, you are responsible for completing your assigned tasks and meeting your goals. You should be keeping track of your accomplishments so that you can report them to your boss and demonstrate your value to the company.
While tracking employee accomplishments is part of a manager's job, it's not the only part. Your boss also has to manage budgets, plan projects, communicate with clients and stakeholders, and perform many other duties. It's simply not feasible for your boss to closely monitor your work at all times.
Create your own career path
If your boss is constantly tracking your accomplishments, it may create a sense of dependence on their guidance and oversight. This can make it difficult for you to take ownership of your work and feel empowered to make decisions on your own.
.

Track your Milestones

Create your own career roadmap with milestones to keep track what your bosses want to see.
This is how a Roadmap with milestones may look like:
Representation of a roadmap
Why should you track your accomplishments with a roadmap in your brag document?
๐Ÿง˜ Clarity and Focus
A roadmap aligns your achievements with goals, keeping you motivated.
๐Ÿ’ Visual Representation
See your progress visually, boosting confidence and effective communication.
โœจ Long-term Perspective
Recognize patterns, identify trends, and make strategic decisions.
๐Ÿ“š Storytelling
Transform accomplishments into a compelling narrative, enhancing your personal brand.
๐ŸŒฑ Accountability and Growth
Hold yourself accountable, track growth, and identify areas for improvement.
๐Ÿ”ฎ Future Planning
Plan for the future by aligning efforts with long-term aspirations.

About me

Niels Theen

Hi, I'm Niels

I created bragdoc.me so people can track their accomplishments during their career. This site is here so the people who want track their accomplishments, can create a habit and get a better understanding of what they have achieved.
I learned to code (properly) in 2009 and have been doing it ever since. As kid I always wanted to create computer games, but with the beginning of the internet I got more and more interested in web related technologies.
Beside working on several projects here, I work full time as backend developer and Tech-Lead. While I love what I'm doing, I want to create something that is my own. The urgency to add more financial and temporal freedom to my life, grew stronger and stronger over the years.
I build bragdoc.me because I was frustrated with the annual performance reviews, and it's lack of transparency. I wanted to create a tool that helps me to track my accomplishments and let me remember what great small things I can achieve in a single business day.
By creating this site on my own, I already learned so many valuable lessons: How to create traction, what should I focus on, my priorities and how to create a product that people want to use. Accomplishments that I also track with this site, so I'll never forget ;)
The urgency to create more freedom in my life, will drive me to create more products and services. So feel free to contact me or just lurk around on some of my social media accounts.
